West Coast End of Summer Sharkathon
Rough surf surf Friday night and a less then expected crowd was what we had on this get-together.Shark fishing was slow Travis had a big black mullet that was bit by a cuda and Doug(captnfncrazy)on Saturday afternoon had a shark miss the hooks on his bat ray by one inch.We had a good time when Aaron, little Brad and Franky showed up after work from the Skyway pier at two thirty am and shot the breeze with us for a while.
Although there were bait schools around and the pelicans were dive bombing them our bait was as fresh as the bait schools that kept the birds busy all day. Thanks to Travis for providing the fresh Mackeral, black drum, bat ray and big black mullet.Sometimes fishing is like this all the ingredients of a wonderful recipe but the cake just does'nt bake right.saturday Kyle(greenhorn0,James(bigreels16),Jimmy and crew(Hardhookers),Dave(Topwater DM)and Jeremia(Seahawkfanatic) showed up but I was northbound to Anna Maria Island where the wife and I rented a Hotel room on the beach and did some fishing Sunday morning before check out time .The results were the same slow fishing with fresh baits and a good beach. Thanks to everyone that participated and to the east coast guys that did not make it over I hope that next time more consideration is given to these get-togethers ,,,,,football season or not!!!

Hey Will, thanks for putting this trip together. Its was nice to see your wife & you here on the west coast to share some good conversation & fishing. The weather & water got rough as Saturday went on,but we did get baits out & produced two nice runs between Travis & I early Saturday morning. Also had the pleasure of meeting some of the other members in the club as well. (thanks for the bait Dave) Hope to get together like this again in the future
